Taking a doe with a spotted fawn???

Posted September 27th, 2014 at 04:54 PM by Professor T

I have shot them a couple of times and the fawns survived. I am sure they didn't fare as well as if mommy was there but they lived. Many times does have been shot that were lactating but the fawns weren't present. In early season the doe stashes her fawns often, so the only sure way is to know the doe. Not very often can they be id'd though. I like the 15 day grace period on does in area 6. I believe it helps.

When I used to deer hunt, I would not shoot a doe with a spotted fawn if I knew she had one.
