Clear Creek Hunt

Posted October 11th, 2010 at 10:36 PM by JCFarms

It was warm at clear creek. We borrowed a friends camper and made the 1.5 hour trip. We looked for a couple of spots via the google earth web site, found a good looking spot and went the weekend before to check it out.*
*The spot we found had lots of feces and food so we went back on the 17th.
We got the Camper set up and went to set out our stands for the mornings hunt.
I found a old shed off a nice 8 pt as we were scouting. A2H got pumped up when I picked it up because she thought I was picking up something I dropped. It was cool.
We returned the next morning and got in the stand about thirty minutes before daylight. At about 8:30 a good sized Spike (Cajun 11 point) he was in full velvet.*Showed up!
I caught the buck fever real bad, almost couldn't pull my bow back, when I finally did get it back the buck was already looking at me, he had seen me reach for my bow earlier and was doing the head bob thing, I'm at full draw and as he turned quartering away I let the arrow fly thwack! I really don't remember looking through my peepsite, the arrow flew just to the right side of him and he was gone, ran about 10 yds and started blowing, my arrow stuck in a small dirt bank along a creek.*
I never saw another deer the next couple of hunts, but the food and folks were a great pleasure in it's self.*
My wife "Addicted2Huntin" on the Bayou Bucks website showed up about 20 minutes later, only to laugh at me for missing.*She didn't even hunt because She had lost her walkie talkie and figures I'd be looking for her, only I knew she was gonna lose it and I felt like she was safe.
It was a great weekend.*
