Hunting for a lease

Posted March 9th, 2009 at 07:02 PM by Spencer Rossie

With the season over I have redirected my hunting efforts to finding a new lease. The club I am currently in has great potential, but has no plans for any deer management. Though I will search for another club if all else fails I will stay in the current lease. I feel like this has been an ever-ending cycle for me. Around six years ago we sold family property in Woodville, Ms. I had been hunting for ten years. Since then I have not found a club I could see myself in permanently. My main concerns in looking for a lease would be some form of management. I’m not looking for something that is necessarily trophy management, but at least the chance to let younger deer walk and the chance at harvesting a quality deer. I have some leases that I am interested in and may have openings, but you never know how things will pan out. My fingers are crossed, and I hope I can find something before the summer. If nothing else I will always have Louisiana’s fine public land.
