Opening morning Missouri bird (Monday) was a textbook woods hunt. Yesterday took my son and tagged one and had him back at school on time. Missouri only allows one bird the first week. I am doing a disability hunt this weekend and hope to have some more stories after that.

Been a slow season for me gobbling wise in Louisiana.
Youth was decent and had a good bird gobbling and strutting with hens in a clear cut by us but didn't get it done.

Since last Monday things have heated a little in the swamps. On good days should hear some gobbling. Friday I worked a bird from 10-13. Made some good moves on him but in the end he lived and I went home empty handed.
Buddy and I got a good bird out the swamp Sunday morning off the roost. Took a while to get to him as he was a ridge over and we had to wade a deep slough/swamp. Had two other birds talking before we get him killed. One shut up, the other one we were able to make him give up location but were not able to get it done before we had to get back to family for the day.

We managed to get another on last Thursday. I didn't shoot him, though. It has been slow. I have called up a ton of jakes and hens, though.
