Default Midwest Trip with Crawl79

It was an unvelievable trip this year. I tagged out early as well, then started chasing them with the stick and the string. This proved nearly impossible with the ridges and brush, but the reward will definately be worth the challenge. I called exactly 20 birds in to a max distance of 35yds. Until the last day, the only thing that i had seen on any of these birds was their head and necks from the waddles up. With the ridges and the brush, these birds would just pop there heads over the ridge and look for that hen. I did call two birds up on the last day of bowhunting. One came in strutting to 30yds, and the other went into strut at 10yds. These were some old and wise birds. They went into strut, drummed, and if they didn't see what they were coming for within two minutes, they would take two steps and be back over the ridge and out of sight.... I never even had a chance to draw on those birds, b/c they were always facing my way....

My first bird was truly a Trophy. 21.5lbs, 3 Beards (11 1/4, and two 9 1/4), one spur at 1 3/8" and one spur at 1 7/16".

Thanks for keeping my head in the game, those birds drive me crazy...

I know the percentage of birds killed off the roost anywhere is low but these birds you are much better off hunting all day.
