Default Blood dog question

I shot a buck this morning and 10 minutes after I shot, it poured down raining and washed the blood away. Can a dog still smell the trail and find the deer?

The guy that brings his dog for us always says he rathers wet than dry.

Have used two dogs before. Both owners, one a bloodhound other a catahoula; both claimed that they could track after rain. Hope that helps. Hope you get your buck man.

I was told by a tracker last year that the a deer when wounded emits a different scent, and that's what the dog follows and not the blood.

Every deer has an individual scent like a human. Good dogs know to track that one deer by its unique scent.

I couldn't get an experienced dog. A guy with a young dog came out and it wouldn't run anything. I think a different dog may have done better

Louisiana Blood Trackers Network on Facebook is the best thing going. It lists all of the registered tracker in each Parish. These trackers CANNOT ask for money or they will be dropped from the list. They do accept tips to cover gas, etc. They are begging for tracking jobs most of the time. They have everything from Bloodhounds to Texas Lacy dogs.

That's who I used. The guy that came out was new. Everyone else had stuff to do.
