Back in my salad years I knew an old fisherman from port Vincent that ran nets in the amite river. He used a block of Velveeta cheese placed into a Tupperware bowl with holes drilled into it. He did well selling catfish.

I run nets. I use artificial crawfish bait stuffed in a crawfish sack. Catch way more than I could ever eat. We also use no bait sometimes if there's a good current. Find a good drain and put them there, caught some huge flat heads and plenty of blues this way.

PM if you need anymore info.

Default Net Bait

Good Ole Stink Cheese with some cotton seed cake (If you could find it) I have a neighbor on the river that also uses the crawfish bait in a crawfish sack as well and cigar minnows in a sack .
