That's crazy. I lived in Fort Collins and used mountain bike up Horsetooth. Never ran across a lion.

Wow, awesome story. No it wasnt me. Im in lubbock awaiting Everest's birth tomorrow. I finally got a lion on camera where i go in Colorado last year. I seen one @ 20yds with my wife while deep in the Idaho mountains near the Canadian border hiking on a bear hunt with my wife. She still tells the story oh how i ran to chase it off and try to get a picture while in my underwear since it was a hot evening and we hiked for hours and got close to some big moose about 15yds. I had stirred the courgar up from a ledge where it bedded with the bones several deer carcasses within a small 20yd area after the sprint when i went investigate the area . It was a prime stalking/bedding ledge looking over aninal trails 6-8 feet underneath the beds with great views. Would've made a great spot to bowhunt. It was one of the coolest experiences. Though after getting my butt kicked when i jumped on that spike last year that left me all bloodied when my wife videoed me, i hope those wild beast with claws and fangs dont attack. The big boar i jumped on b4 feeding in palmettos had busted me up pretty badly too. Wild animals are tough...this trail runner has my respect! Already cant wait for my solo scout trip and 2 week solo backpacking hunting trip next year if i can swing it while on dad duty.

Crazy stuff for sure! Good thing he was in shape and it was young. I keep a dagger on my chest strap on my web gear when afield & a pocket knife clipped on pants.

I've been charged by boars a couple of times and its no joke. Fortunately, a fallen tree was near on both occasions and I jumped up on them, which saved me on one of the attacks when he ran by trying to cut me with his cutters. I managed to kill both of them, but it took several shots from a PW Crack-barrel on one; the other all I had was a bow and knife and I managed to draw/shoot fast like a Trad-bow and stick him in the neck at about 10 yards on a full charging run.

Wild animals are allot stronger than we are. I remember my uncle telling me when I was a kid, "always carry a knife in case your ever attacked and your gun is knocked out your hands while afield", that stuck with me and my son and I do it to this day.

Attached are photos of our Jerk Knives on our web-gear.
