Hit Public land this morning with no run ins from anyone, including Tobacco spitting rednecks. There was one tobacco spitting Coona55. That was me!!!

The way i see it, if you hunt a popular public spot, it is always a definate possibility, but you are choosing to take that chance.

No different than hunting the thanksgiving rifle weekend on a popular WMA. Good chance you may have someone hunting by you, or walk under your stand.

If hunting private land ain't your cup of tea, then go B I T C H and complain about public run ins on some other forum, because it has been worn out here.

Sounds like a nerve was hit. Maybe some on here drive around vehicles and drive up on the roosts.

Or maybe he's tired of people posting on his harvest thread to gripe and complain without so much as a congrats.

Let's get this back on track.

I'm with you on closing the roads. I try to stay away from the ones trucks go down as much as possible but it's amazing the roads they will take their beat up trucks down to blow a locator call. Why not just go hunting on foot or even a bicycle if you must?

What part of his post gave you any impression that he is a road hunter?
I can vouch for 870, he is def not a road hunter. He walks, rides a bicycle and takes his boat to find birds. Don't think I have ever seen him pull a locator call and blow it from his truck on public land in Louisiana and I have been hunting with him for a very long time.

Dnt like private birds because not a challenge, yet complain about the very thing that makes public a challenge! [emoji848]

The problem with the places i hunt is that the roads a pretty good. Even the 2 ruts. And there are plenty of em. So the farther u walk from a road the closer you're getting to another one. Goin to a spot this weekend with less birds, but also less ppl. Hopefully ill be able to enjoy myself cause last week was frustrating. It was the first time i was able to hunt here this season. I went to Texas for our opener. Killed 2 there but still love being in the woods here. Hunt this weekend then next weekend off to South Dakota so this weekend will wrap up my Louisiana season.

Good Luck. My first LA bird was on public land which is either the same one you are talking about or just like it. It was 10am and i had just texted crawl that i struck up a bird. He was circling back to the truck when he saw another truck coming down the woods road that we had parked at the head of. He stopped the truck and let them know that i was working a bird somewhere down the road in the woods. Good thing, b/d the woods had just been burnt a week ago and were "WAO". Got the bird, thanks to Crawl. The few people we ever saw hunt down this road would alway park at the head, but this guy was comin on down....
