The guy that killed it was a GI here at fort Polk. If I'm not mistaken the deer was killed 3 years ago.

Default 2006 Peason Buck

For everyone that has inquired about this deer:

I am the one who was lucky enough to kill this deer back in 2006 on Peason Ridge. Like all military folks I have since moved on elsewhere but just found this site and low and behold saw my deer on this post. I have had the deer officially scored since and it scored 168 5/8 on the Safari Club typical scale. It ranks #4 in Safari Club in the southeastern Region. It nets 174 5/8 with the two non-typical points. It just missed the 160 minimum for Boone and Crockett for symetry reasons. Unfortunately at the time many rumours of the deer being taken illegally caused my deer to kinda fade into oblivion and it was never officially recognized by anyone in the state. I can assure those of you who care and are serious deer hunters it was killed legally, at 10:00 am in the morning, the day before Thanksgiving on one great Louisiana day that I will never forgot. It was the second day I had ever hunted out at Peason Ridge in my life. I was sitting on the ground and shot the buck at 30 yards with my old trusty 30/30 Marlin. It was a deer of a lifetime and I haven't seen one bigger since, even in my home state of Iowa, where we grow em' big. Thanks for the interest in the deer and it feels great to finally be able to share it with those who have the same passion for deer hunting as I do. Peace and God Bless Louisiana!

His spread was 18 5/8". G2 tines were 13 2/8" and 11 2/8". G3's were 10 4/8" and 9". G4's were 4 3/8" and 4 2/8".The brow tines were 6 4/8" and 6 2/8". The mass at the base is 5 1/8" and 5". The smallest mass measurement between the G3 and G4 is still 4 1/8". Never put him on a scale but I would guess he was around 150 pounds.
