In fact, I have a buddy that bought a hound in 1991 and a brand new GMC extended cab truck with all the bells and whistles. He paid more for the dog than he did the truck. This is the type that will land you in a courtroom in a heartbeat and you will find yourself on the losing end.
I am not even gonna say anything to that like I said it was just a little joke don't get ur panties notted up man. I wouldn't hurt a dog that was worthless and I problem with the dogs running deer is my issue but it's getting resolved slowly but surely.

My point..which seems to have been lost in the translation is that these dogs are worth money...a LOT of money. I know he was joking but the part that boiled me was his comment about " It's all good can't take a joke shame on em"

Now that we have established that it was a joke...let me say this. I know a guy in MO. that has shot dogs just because they were loose during deer season. They don't hunt deer with dogs there and his opinion is that they are not to be out of their yards. How are you going to feel if you've got a bunch of time, expense, etc. in a dog as well as the attachment and it falls victim to some guy like that?? OK..now how should you react to someone that makes a "joke" about maybe doing it?

I'm not "knotted up" about it...but a guy needs to consider his actions and how they are perceived. I apologize for the rant but I just truly don't think folks realize how much these hounds are worth. Labs also fall into that category. I know I was shocked at how much a good pup sells for when I saw an ad for some for $1200 a few years back. Yep..for a 6 week old puppy!

Now the absolute worst confrontation I ever saw was on Kisatchie during dog season and a still hunter started screaming about killing dogs...and people (from his tree by the way) even though they had just as much right to be there as he did.

I'm not sure what the end result will be but am curious about it.
