I went bow hunting and scouting 3 days last week in the same area I killed my 6 pt during the either sex hunt. According to my gps I have covered 10.7 miles. The only thing I seen was 3 rubs and jumped 2 does. This was off of Sandy Bayou Rd. I'm not even waste my time and gas going there for the buck only. Been about 4 years since I hunted out there and the deer population doesn't look to good or at least where I was. Couldn't find any trails or feed trees. Very discouraging. Must have been blind luck on killing that 6 pt. Lol

I figured they would be starting to do a little cruising or something.

I figured they would be to but I didn't see much sign where I was. Usually by this time u can find a good bit of sign but I never seen anything that got me excited and made me want to hunt. The deer population doesn't seem to be very high where I was either and couldn't find any feed trees or anything. May be better sign somewhere else but my old spots didn't look good at all

Didn't see a deer all weekend. No sign anywhere and all the feed is gone. We are probably a couple of weeks from the rut from what I can tell. Had 6 hunters at my camp and only 1 deer was seen between us.

It's better than being at work and staying home doing nothing. Might as well go out and enjoy what God gave us.
