I was in the stand with my son this morning for the youth hunt.At about 8:30am I heard something running so I woke my teenage son up,I could see the coyote moving through the woods and asked my son if he wanted to shoot a coyote,he said nope and went rite back to sleep. The yote popped out in a lane and I shot him.

Coyote

I was on a youth hunt with my 8 year old son on sat afternoon when this coyote came out. He hasn't ever killed an animal but has been with me on productive hunts numerous times. He had some trouble engaging a big doe that morning so when this coyote came trotting down the lane I grabbed the gun and had to show him how fast it needs to be. Lol. I think he had been waiting on that perfect wide open broadside shot that they show in the hunting shows, well that doesn't happen very much and I've been telling him you just have to male it happen. As bad as I felt for shooting and possibly messing his hunt up got washed away later when a 6 point showed up and my boy made a perfect shot. I've had some great days in the field but those days and killing that coyote couldn't hold a candle to the way I felt when we walked on my son's first kill laying there in the lane. I was one proud fella! I will post the pics of the yote but I can't help but post my boys pics too since they were from the same hunt.

Setup one of my pandas in a spot then headed to my area. Settled in pretty early over some really good sign. Before daylight, my stomach just started churning and I was misserable. I decided to try and stick it out at least until noon. Finally this nanny showed up at 9:45 and ended my missery. Our group had a great weekend and lots of animals hit the ground.

I been itching to hunt with this rain. While it was misting rain I setup in my box stand. I got there early around 6:30 and waited but figured they would move a lot later. Around 9:00 I hear a loud truck to the distant and this doe came running across one of my lanes. I couldn't get on her fast enough. Luckily she slipped out on 2nd lane and I dropped her on the spot. First of the year sure knocks the edge off!

I decided I would stay by the house today and hunt on my own property. Been having a few deer come to our feeder. They have been coming in the evening so I felt that today would be great time to go. It was drizzling rain when I walked in and sat down right on the ground. My legs kept falling asleep but I still stuck it out. I noticed some movement and here comes this doe slipping towards me along the edge of a group of oak trees. She was coming straight for me. I shot her at 35 yards and she ran maybe 10 feet and fell over dead. Had her back to the house in a couple minutes. Gotta go after them easy ones sometimes lol.

My 8 year old and I decided to float our way to the camp this weekend and hunt. I bet we drove through 10 inches of rain on Saturday. The weather didn't disappoint, good thing we had a box to sit in. Lol. Told my little dude we were going to take home some meat this trip to bring his gun. Also told him he had first Crack but if he hesitated I was sealing the deal. He hesitated. He will get the next one! She was about 80 yards out and weighed about 100 lbs. Attachment 96837

I had it all planned out to sit in a lil group of oak in the edge of swamp this eve. I had seen a few deer tracks so I'd hoped they would come through. Got there at three. I was walking into spot and heard a few pigs squeal and saw movement in the brush. The wind was whipping and in my favor so they had no clue I was there. I slipped up on them and this ole sow was headed my way rooting. Put the ole mossy on her head and gave her load of 000. Had her down at 3:15.
