Default Kansas Giant Down

Well I got invited to go to a new area in Ks this year. We got there early in the morning and scouted and hung stands the first day. The next morning I was set up in a narrow draw and nothing was moving. I knew we had a lot of scouting to do so I decided I would get down at 9 if the action hadnt picked up. Well at 9 on the dot I hear footsteps coming through. I immediately see a good sized doe picking her way through the draw. I get ready but it passes at 10 yards without a shot opportunity. It then turned and started angling behind me. It gets to the trail I walked in on and realizes something is up. Eventually it sees me and turned straight away and moved off quickly. Well not 10 minutes later I hear footsteps coming up the trail. I start getting excited because I know it has to be a buck following the doe. Soon after I see a big body and start getting excited. It follows the same trail but instead of going behind me, it turns at the last second and gives me a 5 yard shot. I had to make sure my bow limbs cleared the limbs of the osage I was in and consequently lost focus and made a bad shot. I hit higher and further back than I wanted and didn't appear to get much penetration either. We waited a few hours to pick up the trail and 300 yards of sp**** drops we found this 175# beast!

That rancher is going to be upset; you may have shot someone's horse! That thing is HUGE.

Awesome, especially Trad. Style. Way to go!

Default Giant

Love shooting big ol nannies like that. We shoot one in the 170lb range every year with our heaviest doe breaking 200lbs before. Can def see her weight in that pic. Nice kill!
