Default The Big Chief

This bayou buck was killed in the late 1960s on Turnbull Island. The deer weighed 325 lbs. For those not familiar, Turnbull Island is where the Old River Control structure is located, and the surrounding 2700 acres are open for public hunting.

I would love to know the story behind this kill.
What type weapon was used.
And if he hunted a tree stand, box blind, or ground.
I bet that story is still being told around camp fires today.
Wish I could hear it..lol

Default COE

I wish the Corps of Engineers would open all of their lands to the public. There is a lot of Corps property along the Red and Mississppi that is closed off to the public.
