Default Deer pee scent ban

This year wildlife and fisheries say that you have to use synthetic deer pee Or it has to be stamped ata certified, which means the herd it came from has been under observation and testing and was cleared as not having cwd.

The list of certified and tested urine products is LONG! Tinks, Code Blue, Hunter's Specialties, etc. It's almost a non-issue.

Same, I think folks do more harm than good with that junk.

You must not hunt private land. I never hear that from private land hunters. It's always the public land hunters wanting to stop it and when you think about it, they don't even have a dog in the race.

There is a time and a place for it, same as calling. I use doe in heat scents when the bucks start scrapping. I also put it on my boots to walk to the stand. On more than one occasion I've had a buck cut my track and follow me to the stand.

I could see that on private land. On public you got too many folks putting that junk out all season long.

That was definitely our experience in the 80’s. When Tinks was in glass bottles, and Nathan actually was involved, we saw bucks go nuts over Tinks 69. Tearing down shrubs, enlarging scrapes flat out nuts.
Drag rags of this era with Tinks 69 brought many a subordinate bucks coming in nose to ground.

I do not foo with any of it anymore. Last time i used it was January of around 2002. Had some 69 in a Pee Willy Wick. Had 2 does feeding for 45 minutes by me. I knew they were about to wind the wick.
When they did, they went on alert. Huddled up, looking around, did the sudden head raise trick, then vacated the area.
