Default Coy wolves

My parents have land that boarders the Forrest in winnfeild. They have plenty of coyotes and see them regularly. A couple days ago something was after their chickens. They looked out the window and it appeared to be a grey coyote the size of a German shepherd. My dad fired a 12ga at it but didn't hit it. Anyone ever see or hear of wolves or coy wolves in North Louisiana?

German shepherds are big dogs. Red wolves didn't get that big and if it's crossed with a coyote it would be even smaller. No way a Grey wolf or a cross would be this far south. It's was probably a dawg

That was my first assumption. But with the secluded location and hour long talk with my parents I'm not sold on it anymore.

My mother has some of my trail cameras. I told them to hang some chicken liver and put a camera. Hopefully it will produce some good pictures.

I walked up on a big wild dog in Sherburne WMA a few seasons back. I was stalking deer in a light rain with the wind in my face, rounded a corner and we were w/I 15 yards of each other; both of us had that deer in the headlights moment. He broke fast and I sent one, but to no avail. The animal was dark charcoal and big like a German Shephard; looked allot like the Timber Wolf that is mounted at Cabela's.
