Well the whole purpose of the forum was just to find a place to hunt and I'd do some work in return lol. The questions just seemed to start building on their own haha. I'm in Lafayette for fours years so hopefully I can figure things out by the time I graduate...HOPEFULLY lol

Where is GIS?
And not being able to go hunting as much is killing me. In high school I'd bring my guns and camo with me to school and as soon as school let out I was in the woods. Now its just hard to have time to go. To make things harder, I use to hunting piney woods and hills, not all these swamps and bottom land lol.

Stateland GIS is a mapping tool that you can look at the land and see where stateland is around your area.. I have the link at home, I can pm it to you when I get off of work. I'm just the opposite familiar with hunting swamps , and trying to learn piney woods on some WMAs I started hunting.

I know piney woods you know swamps, sounds like we'd make a **** of a hunting duo haha. As for ducks, I have wooduck decoys and a call but I don't know what the **** im doing lol. Since I was a kid my duck hunting has been sneaking up behind pond leeves, not hunting with blinds and decoys haha. I'm planning to do some scouting and maybe hunting at Thistlethwiate on Sunday. Hollar at me if you wanna go and if you have a climber bring it just in case.

I used to schedule no classes before 0900 and woodduck hunt every morning at Lake Martin. You can just stand on the levy and shoot at pass overs but you will need a dog or pirogue to retrieve your ducks. I used to wear chest waders and walk all the way around the lake to almost opposite the boat ramp. You can walk into the lake from the levy on that side. Lot of pass shooting back then and it was over 45 min. after shooting time. If you can shoot, it wasn't too hard to shoot your 2 back then and make class. Last couple of times I went I didn't see nearly as many wooducks so I haven't been in a couple of years.

Thanks fiveo! I just have one question though, where did you clean your birds? Iím pretty sure the people at UL would be pissed off and appalled if I clean my ducks on campus haha

I've heard good things about IB, both deer and duck hunting. Only problem is no boat or wadders. I need to figure something out though because I love me a few good wood ducks
