Latest changes are in red.

The Bayou Bucks Hunting Community is a private forum whose goal is to promote, educate, and enhance outdoor opportunities in Louisiana by providing a family-oriented atmosphere that exhibits the highest levels of friendliness, integrity, and respect from all participants.

The above mission has served as the foundation of Bayou Bucks since its creation. Many members have worked hard to help nurture the culture which makes Bayou Bucks a popular online destination, and the moderators and staff owe it to these members and all members who cherish these attributes to maintain and protect that environment into the future. A public forum is a powerful tool and resource—for good or bad—depending upon how you use it. Here at Bayou Bucks, it will always be used for good. With it comes great responsibility. As representatives of Louisiana's hunting and fishing heritage and future, each member of Bayou Bucks is encouraged to uphold the highest levels of friendliness, integrity, and respect towards others.

The following rules have always been in existence, and now, have finally been put into writing so that there's no grey areas or ambiguity. These rules are not open for discussion on the public forums. If you have issues, concerns, or questions about a rule, feel free to PM (Private Message) a moderator or administrator, and as always, your concerns or suggestions are always appreciated and considered. Bayou Bucks forums should never be used to "call out" a moderator or administrator for implementation of the rules. Our mods are thoughtful and fair, and work diligently to uphold the Bayou Bucks mission.

Posts appear on Bayou Bucks as they are entered and replied to. It is impossible to monitor each post in real time. Bayou Bucks will strive to ensure that all posts are polite, professional, and conform to a "PG" rating with an absence of violence, sexual content, innuendo, and profanity. Furthermore, it is the intent of Bayou Bucks to provide an atmosphere where every member, regardless of join dates, post counts, age, nationality, race, creed, religion, political persuasion, sex, or level of education, shall be treated with respect. This concept will be enforced with vigor.

Posts containing personal attacks or harassing, inflammatory, vulgar, abusive, threatening, sexually-oriented, hateful, or obscene language are prohibited. Posts violating this prohibition will be removed without notice to author. A member who violates this prohibition may be permanently banned from Bayou Bucks. This prohibition includes attempts to alter words to avoid technical violation of the rules. Bayou Bucks will act more harshly toward those whose intent is to violate the rules by "typing around the censors" (TAC). If you cannot communicate without using profanity or vulgarity, then Bayou Bucks is not the place for you. If you occasionally feel the need to be emphatic about making your point, then use one or more of the many “emoticons” we have available.

Occasionally, certain topics create passionate debates that lead to inflammatory rhetoric. These topics include, but are not limited to: dog hunting, religion, antler restrictions, fish size limits, and a whole array of other state and federal game laws. Many times, these threads get deleted or closed because they cannot maintain a respectful dialogue. Rekindling topics from deleted threads for the sole intent of "keeping it going" or "getting your last word in" will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Likewise, the public prodding of moderators to acknowledge why certain posts or threads were deleted is unacceptable. If you can't find a reason in these rules why your post might have been removed, then kindly PM a moderator for an explanation if you haven't already received one.

Actions known as "thread hijacking" will not be tolerated. This is defined as replying to a someone's thread with a comment that grossly diverts or directs attention away from the original thread author's intent, regardless of whether or not the thread author approves of it.

Bayou Bucks expects and encourages the lively exchange of ideas and opinions. Bayou Bucks also expects these exchanges to be free of rancor and personal invectives. The golden rule is simple and clear for all: Be polite or be gone.

Warnings can be issued by any moderator or administrator to any users of this board for violations of the rules on this forum. Warnings do not count toward your permanent record or count towards being banned. They are issued to alert a member of an activity, post, comment, etc. that is in violation of the forum rules. All warnings can be viewed in your user profile by you.

Infractions are issued for more serious offenses or after the first warning has been issued. The normal moderation progression is a warning for the first rule violation and then infractions for each additional rule violation. It is possible to receive infractions and never receive a warning if the rule violations are severe or intentional. Infractions count toward your permanent record and are not reversible. Each user can get up to three infractions, but some infraction are more sever than others and may result in banishment before 3 is reach. 6 infraction points will initiate an automatic banning by the forum’s software. A banning is a permanent event and not reversible. Once a member is banned, their profile and user name can no longer be used. The member loses all posting privileges permanently. Occasionally a “final warning” may be issued when a user has three infractions. This is an indication that the next rules violation will result in a member being banned from Bayou Bucks. There can be instances of extremely serious violations resulting in a member being banned where no infractions or warnings have been issued previously. All infractions can be viewed in your user profile by you.

Because of the changes regarding libel laws and liability, any threads or posts made about businesses or individuals that are derogatory, accusatory in nature, or suggest illegal dealings will be deleted, regardless of merit. The internet is a powerful tool that can inflict permanent harm to businesses and individuals, and Bayou Bucks will not serve as a platform to inflict harm on any thing or anyone, regardless if he or she is a member here or not. If you have such a problem, deal with it personally, but do not post about it on Bayou Bucks. Repeated violations of this rule will result in immediate termination of your posting privileges without recourse.

If you have forgotten your password or your email address has changed, do not create another user account or you risk losing your membership privileges. This also applies if you wish to change your username. Click on the "Contact Us" link on the forum homepage and send us an e-mail stating your problem. We will fix it for you.

Usernames may not include, or allude to business names or any other profit making initiatives. Usernames must also not be construed by the average person as an offensive term or word. Usernames deemed inappropriate may be altered or removed without notice.

One username per member. Members found to have multiple usernames with or without the intent of causing disruption on the forums risk having ALL of their posting privileges revoked immediately and without notice.

Private Messages
Private Messages are intended to be precisely that. Do not text, email, discuss, or re-post any private message or private email sent from within Bayou Bucks. These messages are intended by the author to be private. Similarly, "reputation marks" and comments via the new reputation rating feature are also private, and should never be discussed publicly. If you take issue with a PM, reputation mark, or reputation comment, please notify a moderator privately. Communication of this type may be posted by administrators, however, if they deem it appropriate material for the Bayou Bucks community.

Avatars are images that appear next to your screen name in forum posts. All avatars must comply with our PG rated, family friendly theme. Avatars that are deemed to be sexually suggestive, vulgar, abusive, or overly revealing will be deleted.

The decision as to whether an avatar complies with our rules is at the sole discretion of the administrators and moderators of Bayou Bucks and is not open to debate. Repeated violations of this rule will result in the termination of membership privileges.

Only appropriate classified ads are allowed on Bayou Bucks within their respective classified sub-forum. Advertising products, services, or other websites in non-classified areas of Bayou Bucks, including signature lines, usernames, and avatars is prohibited. You may send an appropriate PM to other members of this message board concerning your service with a link when asked directly about it.

Only limited-run crafts, specialty items, or personally owned products available for resale can be posted in the classifieds. Mass-produced products from commercial companies not actively affiliated with Bayou Bucks Magazine cannot post classifieds. Any product offered for sale must be posted in its relevant classified ad sub-forum. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) marketing techniques known as “backlinking” creates undue traffic, misuse of server bandwidth, and increased cost. Members determined to have posted a backlink to their classified ad from any other websites such as other forums, Craigslist, and similar sites, etc., will be issued an infraction.

Advertising of any kind via forum posts, picture comments, blog posts, or private message to members of this message board is considered spamming. Repeated violations of this rule will result in immediate termination of your membership.

Opinions, comments, and statements made or posted by members of Bayou Bucks are strictly those of the member. The Forum does not endorse or adopt any message hereon unless posted specifically by administrators of Bayou Bucks. Bayou Bucks disclaims any responsibility or liability whatsoever for the content posted to by its members. We reserve the right to delete any post at any time without notice. All original material posted to this site becomes the sole property of Bayou Bucks and may be used in any manner and for any purpose the Forum may choose.

Any material deemed to be in poor taste or inflammatory to the forum and/or it's members can be removed arbitrarily by an administrator or moderator.

Use of this Board in any manner constitutes acceptance of The Rules and of this disclaimer.
"Never argue with an idiot; people watching might not be able to tell the difference."
