The Bayou State Bowhunter’s Association (BSBA) 3-D Archery Shoot on Sunday, April 19 at Thistlethwaite WMA was an exciting and successful event. There were several first-time attendees at this well-put-together and family oriented event, including many BayouBucks.com forum members. Shooters from all age groups and all corners of the state were there to test their archery skills. Pistol Young, BSBA’s Director, was very pleased with the event’s turnout:
“Mother Nature threw us a scare, but turned off the faucet about 4 hours before the event started,” he reported. “We had a total of 99 shooters participate in this annual event. The BSBA has a very good relationship with the management of Thistlethwaite WMA, and Mr. Tom Woods (LDWF) uses the monies raised from the 3D event to purchase fertilizer and seed for the many food plots that he plants and maintains for the WMA. These plots benefit all users of the WMA, and not just bowhunters.”
If you’ve ever thought about shooting at one of these events but are a little reluctant because of your shooting ability, don’t be. You don’t have to be Robin Hood to enter one of these shoots, and it’s a nice, relaxing way for you and your friends to get together. Besides the occasional remarks from your buddies, there’s absolutely no pressure from any other shooters. You pretty much just shoot at your own pace, and it’s highly recommended to anyone that enjoys archery. Here are a few pictures to show just what an event like this comprises:
