On Monday, May 18, Senate Bill 52 completed its first step at becoming law by making it through the Louisiana Senate’s Revenue and Fiscal Affairs Committee. Authored by Senator Rob Marionneaux (D, Dist. 17), this bill will create a sales tax exemption for firearms and hunting related purchases during the first weekend of September. Under the bill’s current version, local and municipal sales taxes will be exempted as well. If constituents are interested in facilitating SB 52′s passage, they’ll need to voice their support via phone or email to their local state senators and representatives, who can be found by clicking here. With enough grassroots support from the outdoor community, this bill stands a very good chance at becoming law.

Would this affect the Pittman funds??
I doubt it, since the PR Act is a federal excise tax that’s completely separate.
So it’s just state tax??
The bill will exempt both state and local sales taxes.
