Managing White-Tails in Louisiana Volume 2, a comprehensive guide for hunters and land managers, is now available from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF).

LDWF Deer Study Leader Scott Durham compiled a decade of data recorded since the first volume was published in 1996, and combined that with biological, breeding and disease information provided by former LDWF biologist and administrator David Moreland and Deer Management Assistance Program (DMAP) Coordinator Emile LeBlanc to produce an indispensable tool for white-tailed deer stewards.

The 48-page book includes management information for nine of Louisiana’s distinct habitat types, breeding activity by area, and descriptions of common deer diseases with color photographs. There is also a chapter on multiple methods of data collection for herd and habitat monitoring.
