In the last couple of years I have taken up Traditional Bowhunting, and in my opinion there is nothing else an archer can do to finally make him realize just how unimportant speed and bow brands are when bowhunting. Once you start stickbow hunting successfully, it really drives home what the true essence of archery is all about: skill, patience, and the overwhelming desire to see a well-placed arrow hit its mark and its fletching disappear through the animal, only to reappear blood-red on the opposite side! This is the end result of what it’s all about—not what brand bow, or what type of high-tech broadhead you are toting in your quiver.
We have all forgotten the purity that’s involved with bowhunting because of all the toxic advertising in today’s archery industry. It’s this bowhunting purity that we all need to get back too. So the next time you hear someone bashing on another archer’s equipment choice, remind him that we are all stick and string brothers in the end, no matter what name brand is stamped on our bow. And as long as you’re slinging arrows from a bow—no matter what its brand name—you’re alright by me!
In the end, bow brands mean nothing when you enter a situation like this—captured from the author’s iPhone!

VERY GOOD ARTICLE!!!!
Amen brother!!!
Excellent write-up Widow, I would have to agree with it 100%, to much advertisement for products, who is the fastest, who is the quietest, who is the lightest, creates a natural competition, throw in the competitive hunting spirit of a hunter and the REASON why we bowhunting can be forgotten sometimes.
you hit a home run with this one widoe
That was some good stuff, Russell. You do a good job!
Great article Widow, I knew you liked Bowtech. JJ I will never bash another archer for his equipment just his skills. LOL
As my wife said before I bought my last bow (and the one before that.)
“Did your old bow kill the deer?”
Why yes, it did honey.
“So the deer was dead, right?”
“Yes.”
“Can this new bow kill the deer any deader than dead?”
Kind of hard to answer that one, huh??
Very good write up Widow
Spot on Widow….
Good Job MAN! FREAKIN AWESOME!
Nice write up bro!
Good Reading, after 19 years with the same bow I’m looking into purchasing a new one this year. Echoing Ricky, the wife wanted to know if the new one would make them any deader? I guess she has a valid argument.
Well written Widow.
Well put Russ!
Thats the way to bring reality back where it should be. Great read Widow. One question tho…where’s the ace of spades…heehee
Widowmaker, The Rodney King of the bow hunting world… Nice job Russ.
Great write up bro….
Very nice article.
Truthful article, great job..
Sweet video and great article widow, you tha man!
Thanks for this article! I loved it.
I’m a new bowhunter (last season was my first in the stand). I’m proudly hunting with a Browing Micro Adrenaline pulling 40lbs. My first kill, last season was a nice 5 pt buck. My arrow blew through him despite my “inferior” bow and “pitiful” poundage.I’ve endured a few snickers along the way and anticipate more in the future. But, freezer don’t lie….I’ve got venison. Nuff said.
You did good on telling it like it is. I have never been one to go out and buy something just because someone else has it. I buy what I fell comfortable with and what fits my needs and my pocket book.
Loved your article! Same thing with poundage, I shoot 60, 26.5″, never failed me when I picked a spot and didn’t rush.
Widow- great article as always, and i agree 100%
Nice deer and video also- please here learn a lot from ya thanks
