Ben was raised in Pride, Louisiana, and learned to hunt, fish, and trap at a young age. Most of what he has learned has been self-taught, developing a love for the outdoors and white-tailed deer in particular. Armed with the insights gained from numerous deer hunting publications, Ben was able to obtain a job working directly with deer at LSU’s deer research farm near Clinton, Louisiana during high school. Here he gained practical, hands-on knowledge from some of the most prominent biologists in this field, thus compelling him to study Wildlife Management at LSU. After a brief pause in his studies to pursue the exhilarating sport of bull riding, Ben soon returned to LSU, finishing his degree in Information Systems.
After his boss secured 2188 acres of bottomland hardwood in Avoyelles Parish to bring clients and employees hunting, Ben assumed the responsibility of managing the property to produce the monster bucks he had always dreamed of. Ben established year round food plots, mineral sites, conducted photo censuses, and developed rules to allow the younger bucks on the property to reach maturity. By the fifth year, this property had produced an eight point that officially netted 151″ B&C, with numerous other bucks caught on camera easily surpassing this size. Like so many other businesses during the recession, the economy caused his company to let the property go, thus prompting Ben to lease it himself and recruit members that share the same goal of continuing management of the land for quality whitetails.
