Although born and raised in Hammond, LA, Spencer’s deer hunting adventures began as a child at his family’s property in the hills of Woodville, Mississippi. It was here that his father taught him the skills of deer hunting, and during his 10-year tenure on the property, he learned everything about the pursuit of whitetails. After a decade of Woodville club politics and bordering property troubles, Spencer was forced to leave and begin hunting on Louisiana’s public lands, where his whitetail knowledge would be put to the test. He and longtime friend Jason Aycock bounced between different public lands, exploring diverse terrains and learning how to hunt deer in their natural, untouched habitat.
In 2002, Spencer killed his first public land deer on Red River WMA, and has rapidly transformed himself into a public land devotee, pursuing deer all season by rifle, muzzleloader, and his preferred method of take: the bow and arrow. Having consistently harvested deer on Red River, Tunica Hills, and Joyce WMAs, Spencer now applies the insights he’s gained on these three drastically different areas to other public lands across the Bayou State. In addition to his passion for hunting whitetails, Spencer’s recent craze has been waterfowling, where during the early season you will often find him hunting locales as diverse as the rice fields near Fenton to the flooded bottomlands of Concordia Parish.
