Note: Waterfowl Refuge is closed to all hunting, trapping and fishing EXCEPT for archery hunting for deer and hogs, which is allowed on the entire area. Refuge is marked with “Waterfowl Refuge” signs. Contact the Region I Wildlife Division Minden Office at 318/371-3050 for details on the lottery hunts listed below.

Deer:

Archery only: Oct. 1-Jan. 31, either-sex. Archery hunting is allowed in the waterfowl refuge.

Dove:

Same as outside EXCEPT opening day of first split will be restricted to those hunters selected as a result of a lottery.

Waterfowl Lottery Only: (Portion west of Bayou Pierre)

Lottery Youth Hunt: Same as outside youth waterfowl hunt.
General Lottery Hunt: Second weekend of both splits of the West Zone season.

Other Small Game:

Same as outside. Beagles allowed for rabbits and dogs allowed for squirrel hunting Jan. 1-Feb. 28 and OPEN to squirrel hunting during the spring season, May 2-10, with or without dogs.

Raccoon (Nighttime):

Jan. 1-Feb. 28.

Unmarked Hogs:

May be taken by properly licensed hunters from Oct. 1-Feb. 28.
